About us…

The Parish lies to the north of Bridgend with the M4 as its southern boundary, The parish includes the confluence of the Ogwr, Garw and Llynfi rivers and it is the gateway to those valleys. In 2004 the Church of St John’s  in Aberkenfig formerly in the parish of Penyfai with Tondu was united with the existing parish of Llansantffraid and Bettws at the same time an informal grouping  with the parishes  of Ogmore Vale and Llandyfodwg and Llangeinor with Pontycymer, and Penyfai was established. This grouping, whilst separate parishes with their own clergy, meet together for worship and social events and the clergy meet  to worship together on a weekly basis and for informal times for fellowship and mutual support. The parish of LBA (as it is affectionately known) includes these main communities of Betws, Sarn, Bryncethin, Ynysawdre,  Coytrahen, Brynmenyn, Tondu, and Aberkenfig. The parish is served by two clergy, Stephen Pare Priest-in-Charge, and Olwen Parry non-stipendiary curate. The Rev Gaynor Lowans, formerly curate with us, is our honorary curate.
